Does Collagen work? I always wanted to know ….

Over the past few years I have become quite obsessed with my wrinkles.  Some of the time, I feel I have earned them, and then at other times I resent them. I have come to terms with my age, with my weight loss and the resultant baggy skin and the wrinkles that have appeared out of nowhere.  However, when I had the opportunity of trying Absolute Collagan by Maxine Laceby I jumped at the chance. The collagen comes in sachets and they promise the highest concentration of Type 1 marine collagen in a small daily dose – which is then supposed to stimulate your natural collagen production.

Call me weird

Before I even looked at the reviews and did my research I wondered if it would taste fishy or if I would get fishy breath.  I am happy to report that this is not a side effect at all.  It didn’t taste fishy, but it is quite strong, so I mixed it with juice or smoothie.

Feedback from others and from me

A little google around the internet will show some amazing reviews and testimonials. I initially only thought of collagen in terms of skin, but of course when I thought about it I realised that it has a really positive effect on hair and nails, both in terms of growth and strength. Now, my nails and hair have been a problem for a while, primarily from medication.  My hair thinned a lot, and my nails were really brittle and split vertically and flaked horizontally. I tried Absolute Collagen for 14 days, which means that I probably only got a taste of how good it is for you.  If I am honest I can’t see a major difference in my wrinkle situation but where I saw a dramatic difference was in my nails, which are so long and strong I have to file them down, and my hair which has grown and is lovely and shiny. I have no doubt that should I continue, the effect of taking collagen daily would have a long-term impact on my skin too.  Over the past while I have tried a number of different approaches to keeping my skin plump, from lotions and potions to vitamins and products such as Absolute Collagen.  I have also upped my water intake, and tried, despite the cold to get more exercise. I think on balance, consistency is key.  Try things out, and when you find something is working, stick with it.  Also, however I truly believe you need to love the skin you are in. Before I go I have to pay tribute to the fabulous woman and inspirational founder of this product Maxine Laceby – read all about her here. Kerry xx

There was a huge part of me fighting against turning anything like fifty. It happens though and there is nothing we can do to fight it. Well we can’t fight the chronology of years and minutes ticking by but we can stay fabulous. I try to be fabulous, despite having a few things I am fighting against like RA, Diabetes and Pernicious Anaemia. This blog is simply about me embracing life. Food, make-up, fashion and more. My trials and tribulations. I hope you enjoy!
